Sherry, the owner, is a former elementary school teacher. She is wife, mother of three sons, and grandmother of six, five girls and one boy! In 2002, Sherry experienced a "cardiac event" which involved a near-death experience. This experience revealed how important each day is, the brevity of life, and the importance of getting one's priorities in order. God's love was revealed in this experience and gave Sherry the courage to fulfill her dream of owning her own business. Her prayer since the beginning of the business is that the shop be a blessing to the community and to anyone entering our doors. If we fail in that most important goal, we want to know it and correct it.
Helen Griffith and Sherry attended high school together but didn't become close friends until Helen began doing Sherry's hair in the '90s. After Helen retired from hairdressing she came to work at the first Nest location in Henrietta. Helen watches Sherry's back and is a favorite of many customers due to her warmth and willingness to visit with anyone who comes in the store. In fact, many people come in just to visit with Helen! Helen is mother of two daughters and also has two grandsons.
Brandi Neville began working part-time at the Henrietta location shortly after marrying a young man from the area. Brandi is from the Dallas area and teases her new hubby, Travis, that The Feathered Nest made it a lot easier for her to leave her metropolitan digs for a life on the ranch. Their remodeled country home is almost completely draped and decorated with accoutrements from the Nest. Brandi recently acquired a teaching position which she hopes will support her Feathered Nest habit. I'm sure her sweet hubby does too.
Diane Wiest has been with the Nest since the opening of the first location in Wichita Falls. She is wife, mother of two, and grandmother of four. Diane has a wide variety of life experiences including being a union carpenter, a nail technician, and an outstanding salesperson for Home Interiors. She is critical to the smooth-running of all things to do with home décor, displays, and construction. She and her husband, Jimmy, were instrumental in the completion of the extensive renovations of the second (and current) Wichita Falls location. Diane is also blessed with a gift for gab and has never met a stranger! Susie Hawkins, Diane's best friend, joined the Nest only days after Diane. We were in a crunch trying to open our doors in the first Wichita location and Susie jumped in to help. Fortunately, she has been with us ever since.
Susie is indispensable due to her talent in making the stores look wonderful and being able to create beautiful custom floral arrangements for our customers. And you couldn't find a sweeter, kinder person to help with your shopping needs. Susie is wife, mother of two daughters, and grandmother of four. Susie's mom, Charlene Payne, also helps in the store when we're in a bind and is loved by all. We are so blessed to have her!
Linda Fleming joined the Nest in 2008. Her love of all things fashionable has made her a natural in our clothing and accessories departments. Linda and Sherry are cousins by marriage and also attended high school together. Linda is a retired teacher, wife, and mother of two sons. She is our go-to gal when there is a question about clothes, shoes, handbags, or jewelry.
Sue Statser just recently joined the Nest. She is also a retired teacher and Linda's long-time best friend. Sue has evolved into our inventory control manager. This is an area on which we have never been able to quite get a handle. Then came Sue. God is so good! Sue goes above and beyond the call every day in her willingness to help everyone and in every way. When Sue began she agreed to work a day and a half per week. She is now virtually full-time. We're not sure if she is hooked on us or just knows how much we need her. Sue is the mother of one daughter and grandmother of three.
Sherry has a deep connection to her store and her inventory. She and her staff outfit their homes and themselves with Corky flip flops, Corky's rainboots, Kameleon Jewelry, DaVinci Beads, Ganz products, you name it!
